I dont think its possible because caller identity is a network dependent feature

if the number is withheld or "private number" there is no way to obtain this information through modified flash, for example

> caller dials destination number
> mobile phone sends information to network (network has a copy of the callers telephone number)
> the network then connects the call to the recipient
> network doesnt send any information to the recipient regarding telephone number. and the recipients mobile displants private or witheld number.

therefore this information isnt stored in flash, maybe if you have someone working for telecoms company you have a chance?

someone please correct me if you beleive i am incorrect.

there are 2 different ways to block the number
the frist one is switched by the network provider, the number would never be transmitted during a phone call - not even with the CLIR function

the second one is switched in the menu of the mobile (or with gsm codes) - the number will be transmitted to the other phone - but the phone doesn´t show it (the #31# supresses the number)
this action is programmed in the phones software and has nothing to do with the network

thats why every normal phone has 2 ways to indicate these calls

btw: if you have access to the HLR - you can use any "message" instead of the phonenumber

to put it simple, the network ALWAYS has a copy of the number, the network simply doesnt send the recipient the number. sometimes people make the mistake in nokia phone of turning own number sending "ON" in menu, this means that even if the caller dials 141 the number will STILL show on the recipients phone because by default the number must show! try it for yourselves. if you want to use 141 command you must set own number sending to "set by network" or "default" .

this might be off topic but does anyone know how to disable own number sending on T610? its the first time im looking for the menu but i dont think there is one?

OK! But...

My GSM company is CONNEX Romania and is part of Vodafone. If you make *#30# request is showing "Show caller number" so the service appear to be enableb but is not. I have talk to somebody from the company and told me that *#30# is not a CONNEX service, so if it was a service then I can view ho is calling me.... Heres is a theory: Somebody is calling me, #31#, the network is receiving the request and is forwarding to me, to phone, to not show the number. The number is received by the phone but instead to show the number is showing private number. Then is a flash problem.
If the number is stored by the network... bye bye!

In a few days I will talk again with the person from the company tabout this.... I also heard that in Nokia phones is possible to do that...but how?

I don't think that there is any kind of legal way of geting to see the withheld number because it isn't only a GSM function, you can hide your number with 141 on land lines any way. To get to see the number you would have to no someone at the network, and unless your gonna offer them alot of money I don't think that they woukld risk being sacked and probably being thrown into prison!,,,,,, you need legal permission to view with held numbers, and the only people that are likely to get that are the police!
